Subtitles and audio tracks are separate settings you can switch per title — subtitles show translated or transcribed text on screen, while an audio track changes the actual spoken language of the content, and neither depends on the other.
What subtitles are
Subtitles display text on screen matching the dialogue — either a translation into another language, or a transcription of the original audio. They're switched independently of the audio itself, so you can watch with original audio and translated text at the same time if both are available.
What audio tracks are
Some titles include more than one audio track — different dubbed language versions of the same content. Selecting an audio track changes what you actually hear, separately from any subtitles on screen.
Switching tracks per title
The Player lets you switch subtitle and audio tracks per title, wherever multiple tracks are available for that specific piece of content.
Why availability varies by content
Not every title includes the same set of subtitle or audio options — what's available depends on what was provided with that specific piece of content, the same way a physical DVD or another streaming service might include different language tracks on different titles. A title with three audio options doesn't mean every title has three; each one is different.
If subtitles or audio options seem missing
- Check that title specifically — availability is per-title, so a different piece of content may have different options.
- Look for the subtitle/audio menu within playback — options only appear where the content actually includes them.
- Restart the Player app — clears up most temporary display issues, the same first step worth trying for other playback quirks.
If a specific title should have language options that aren't appearing, that's worth reporting — contact support with the title name.
FAQ
Can I set a default subtitle or audio language? Track selection is per-title within the Player rather than a single global setting.
Does every title have multiple language options? No — it depends entirely on what's included with that specific title, the same way physical media or other streaming platforms vary title by title.
Where can I see everything included with a subscription? The Features page covers what's included, and the FAQ covers other common questions.
